Brown Haired, Blue Eyed Boy

This morning I was sitting in bed,  sippin' on  my, long anticipated cup of coffee.. Yes, I am one of those who go to bed and cannot wait to get up to have their morning coffee.
As I was there, listening to the birds sing and reading through Ephesians, our oldest son Ryder, who is near 7,  came in and laid next to me. We began talking about the day ahead and the few days left of school until summer. Both getting pretty psyched about what adventures we will embark on!
We took a deep breath and there was a moment of quiet. I then shared with him in my thankfulness... " Hey buddy, you know what I am thankful for this morning? I'm thankful for Jesus dying on the cross for us.." Before I could finish my thought , Ryder responds with his morning voice,  " you know.. he did that so we don't have to die on the cross"  I gently reached over to this brown haired, blue eyed boy and pulled him near and kissed his forehead.

It was a beautiful moment between my son and I. God using this to remind me of the sacrifice that was made in our place.. Gods deep, ferocious love and affection for us. God's faithfully perfecting each of our stories... now that is beautiful.

"I will remember the works of the Lord..."
