I love in the Chronicles of Narnia, CS Lewis depicts God as a majestic magnificent lion, Aslan. One of the children Lucy, asks if the lion is safe. "Safe?" said Mr. Beaver, "don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course, he isn't safe. But He's good. He's the King I tell you."
My sister, Kim, my best friend, recently had gotten news that there has been a tumor growing on her brain. They just welcomed their 3rd baby into this world...a mama of 3.. 3 and under... Thinking this was a limit for any mama...but God has allowed this...for this time. Scared. Exhausted, I'm sure she feels. I often pray that the many miles between us will one day just be stepping stones. In my perfect world it would be now... She needs my help. To hold her hand or to give her a hug. To go to the grocery for her. To stay with the kiddos so she has a moment to breathe...
But the stepping stones are still miles and miles. So I trust.
There is nothing safe about following Jesus.. nothing at all... But it is good... so good.
My sis is journeying a life of courageous surrender. For, she still cries out "Hallelujah."
Moment to moment..there is still life to be lived.
"Safe?... Course he isn't safe. But He's good. He is the King I tell you."
If you would like to journey with her
